What’s on next

The Family Counselling Trust runs various events and training opportunities throughout each year.
Here is a list of what we are planning next:

FRIDAY 25th JANUARY 2019 from 10.00 to 16.00 – for Practitioners/Counsellors – in Somerset

A CPD (Continued Professional Training) event is to be held on Friday 25 January 2019 at The Angel, Bow Street, Langport. The subject matter of the presentation is “Conscious Parenting” where building connectivity with children and young people is centre stage. Participants can expect to take a range of ideas to enhance their practical skills in these critical relationships.

The course runs from 10.00 to 16.00, amounting to 6 hours of certified CPD and is led by a recognised trainer and practitioner in the field, Richard Reddington.

The cost of the course is £40 for FCT Somerset registered practitioners and £60 for others.

Applications are welcome from those who wish to support FCT Somerset on a first-come first served basis. For further information and to request a place on the course please contact flo-somerset@familycounsellingtrust.org.  Payment by BACS or cheque secures your place.  Refreshments throughout the day and a light lunch are included in the price.

WEDNESDAY 13th MARCH 2019 from 10.00 – 13.00 – for Dorset FCT Practitioners/Counsellors – Annual Conference

Dorset FCT Practitioners are welcome to join us for this annual conference at:

Venue: Brownsword Hall, Pummery Square, Poundbury, Dorchester, Dorset DT1 3GW

There is plenty of free parking in the square and no charge for the conference.

FRIDAY 5th APRIL 2019 – WORKING WITH ANXIETY WITHIN ASD – for Practitioners/Counsellors – in Wiltshire
From 10am to 4pm

(this replaces the previously scheduled date of 12th April 2019 as it fell during the school holiday)

VENUE – Bemerton Methodist Church, Roman Road, Salisbury SP2 9BH

The day will be facilitated by Michele Corley, Specialist Teacher. Michele has worked until recently as Clinical Team Manager for a specialist autism spectrum assessment team with CAMHS.

This workshop will look at anxiety within autism spectrum disorder. Potential differences in how children with autism experience anxiety and key factors which can impact on this will be considered. Ideas for strategies and ways to provide effective support will be suggested, with time to explore implications for practice.

WEDNESDAY 15th MAY 2019 from 10.00 – 16.00 – for All Practitioners/Counsellors/Therapists in the Charity and Public Sectors – in Dorchester, Dorset – Theme: How to work with ASD and when combined with ADHD

FCT Dorset will be holding a full day conference for practitioners on autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and how to work with this condition, especially when it is combined with ADHD.

This will be run by specialists within the Dorset team and with the assistance of consultant paediatricians from Dorset County Hospital.

Venue: Brownsword Hall, Pummery Square, Poundbury, Dorchester, Dorset DT1 3GW

There will be a charge of £60 for this important clinical day.
